Getting set up
From a new provider account to a first live merchant.
Try it in the sandbox
Request a sandbox provider account from the sandbox page. The team sets it up and sends you an API key, shown exactly once. Sandbox keys start with pmw_test_ and only work in the sandbox. Nothing there moves real money.
Sign in to the Portal
Your provider account has a Portal login as well as an API key. The Portal is where you create merchants, manage their credentials and API keys, invite your team, upload your logo and watch your dashboard.
Create a merchant and set its gateway
Create a merchant under Merchants, or with POST /api/merchant-accounts, choosing an external reference from your own system. Then set that merchant's credentials for a gateway. Free test credentials for each gateway are in the gateway sandbox directory.
Take a test payment
Send a test charge or create a test invoice and pay it from its link. See the developer quick start for the exact calls.
Go live
Ask for a production provider account. Production keys start with pmw_live_ and are issued separately. Treat sandbox and production as two systems: keys, merchants and credentials you made in one are set up again in the other.
