Gateway webhooks

Payment gateways tell PayMidWare about things that happen after a payment, such as a settlement or a chargeback, by sending a webhook. PayMidWare has one inbound address for every gateway.

POST /api/webhooks/{gatewayName}/{merchantAccountId}

When you register a webhook URL in a gateway's own dashboard, use this address with the gateway's name and the merchant account's id, one per merchant.

  • Webhooks do not use your API key. The gateway proves who it is with a signature, which PayMidWare checks. A request that fails the check is rejected with 401.
  • An unknown gateway name, or a merchant with no credentials saved for that gateway, returns 404.
  • Set the merchant's gateway credentials first (see Adding merchants and their gateways), because the signature check uses them.
